Perseverance

Perseverance
Acquiring good character traits and virtues are essential to becoming a person who can enhance society, and some traits are more crucial to have than others.   One trait that I feel everyone should strive to develop is perseverance. This would mean that the culture of our people would be hard workers, people who didn’t give up.  Perseverance is continuing to work hard despite the difficulty in the task or the delay in achieving success.
If we were in a society where everyone was raised with the importance of developing perseverance we would be in a place where many, many more goals were reached.
1.     All goals are accomplished through perseverance.
2.     All hard work accomplishes goals.
3.     Therefore, all hard work is perseverance.
Another reason that perseverance is an excellent character trait that I think everyone needs to have is because it creates a good work ethic.  If we were in a world of people who didn’t give up just because something got a little challenging, imagine how more smoothly our nation would function.  If good work ethic was a common thing among people I am sure that more business’s would stay in business, employees may get better wages or promotions at jobs which would enhance the economy, and finding jobs wouldn’t be as difficult because all employees would enhance the work place and be a necessity to keeping the business running smoothly, thus decreasing the unemployment rate.  These are just some of the many things that would happen if everyone were to have perseverance and kept trying when the going gets tough.

There are a multitude of goods character traits that people should develop to be well rounded and successful, others more vital than others. Perseverance is one of the most important virtues for someone to have.  A person with perseverance will accomplish more goals than the average person and have a strong work ethic, which will help them with almost any aspect of life.

  1. I believe you worded your definition of perseverance quite well. I do agree that this virtue benefits our society greatly, and without it, we would essentially be nowhere. You posed an interesting point that I never thought of before regarding perseverance and unemployment. In your blog post, you said that if everyone persevered through the hard times, that unemployment would be a nonissue because getting a job would not be difficult. This is because perseverance leads to positive work ethic, another character trait everyone should strive towards developing. Another reason why I believe perseverance is an important virtue for our society is that, with perseverance, essentially anything is possible. I believe we all have dreams, goals, and ambitions that would greatly benefit our society; however, most of the time, we do not have the perseverance or the ambition to achieve our goals. If we all displayed the virtue of perseverance to the greatest extent, our society would be much more developed.

  2. I agree with your two arguments that hard work is perseverance and having a good work ethic is perseverance. I also agree that perseverance will help accomplish many goals. Another supporting argument for this virtue could be determination. Determination to get somewhere and reach a goal takes perseverance. Someone determined to reach a goal is showing high moral standards.

  3. Your description and examples of perseverance are very good. However when reading through the one thing that comes to mind is whether you considered people with too much perseverance might actually be bad. If they keep working and working when it puts themselves and others in danger couldn't that be a bad thing? Overall however I liked your piece very much.

  4. Perseverance goes hand in hand with motivation and determination, which a lot of people lack. I agree with you on how the nation would function and how businesses would be, although I also believe that there are other factors that influence corrupted businesses. If people were to persevere and work on their goals until they are met, the world world would be a better place.

You better preach to this generation and let them know because nowadays, many people are trying to beat the system and choose an easy career path instead of doing what they really want to do. If they would only persevere.
