Loyalty

Loyalty

Loyalty is a virtue that the majority of people don’t have, but I believe everyone should. Loyalty has many different forms whether it is that you are loyal to a person, the country and/or state you were born, or a cause. Loyalty is a person’s faithfulness or a devotion to a person, country, group, or cause.

Loyalty is considered a virtue because It strictly co-insides with someone’s character. If you are loyal you will stay that way and if not then you won’t. If people aren’t loyal in at least one thing in their life they will not make any kind of bond with anyone and thus making them lonely for their life’s deration. The people that are going to be the ones you want in your life are the worthy ones. You aren’t worthy if you aren’t loyal. For example if your friend tells you a deep secret trusting you not to tell and you go out and expose that secret you just exhibited disloyalty. This makes you unworthy of your friend’s friendship.

  1. All worthy people are loyal
  2. All kind people are worthy
  3. Therefore all kind people are loyal

Loyalty can also be considered a virtue because it is completely up to you if you are loyal or not. We were all born with the ability to make right or wrong decisions. We have the power to choose for ourselves. The same principle applies here. If an individual decides to be disloyal then it all up to that individual. Loyalty isn’t something that is taken or given. It is in every individuals own two hands. Whether you chose to use it or not is completely up to you, that is what makes it so special.

Loyalty is a virtue that is a person’s faithfulness or a devotion to a person, country, group, or cause. In order to be loyal you need to be worthy. Having loyalty to someone or something is all up to you and that is why it is so important.

  2. I do agree that loyalty is a character trait that everyone should strive to develop, and I believe your definition of loyalty is accurate. However, what I do not agree with is that a person who is not loyal is incapable of becoming a loyal individual. In your post, you state, "If you are loyal, you will stay that way, and if you're not, then you won't" Loyalty is a characteristic, no doubt, but individual characteristics can change. If a person finds the fact that they are not loyal to be a character flaw, and they are determined to change that aspect of themselves, then I think change is possible. Not everyone will have the determination to change, but those who do seek to better themselves, I believe can and will change their character.
