Free Will Debate

Determinist – Believes all actions are generated by the physical world or the environment in which we are raised in
Libertarians – Believes some actions are generated by free will and some caused by external causes.

The side that I have chosen is the Libertarians argument because we do generate our own actions from our free will and not just because of the environment that makes us choose our actions.  In my opinion Libertarians are more plausible since there is more evidence that people making great decisions come from a rural environment but that environment did not make them do actions that will persicue their life.
Explanatory Breadth – Libertarianism explains more types of human behavior; knowing that people have the ability to change their action by their own free will. Many people choose to make their own life decisions and act in their own feelings. Whether than determinist that feels spontaneity does not occur and your actions are generated way before you are doing them (external causes) or  in the environment in which people grow up in.
Explanatory Depth- I feel that Libertarianism has more explanatory depth, supporting a simple reason on why we do things. Libertarianism gives more details in why we do certain things, rather than determinist thinks we do things because of the environment that we are raised in, which is not the case because some people who live in a bad neighborhood do great things and people who live in a good neighborhood does bad things, so doing things shouldn’t be because of the environment that we will in.
Simplicity - Determinism does not have to  conceal hidden errors as much as libertarianism does . Since , libertarianism has many reasons for people’s actions and because free will can vary and is more complex to understand. When determinism has one explanation for someone’s action.
Conservatism -  Libertarianism and determinism  explains conservatism the best because depending on how you look at free will , people can live their life off of their our actions and based from what someone else is telling them . Because some people can be determinism because of their religion.

1.     Libertarianism and Determinism are most plausible explanation of human behavior.
2.     Libertarianism has more explanatory breadth and conservatisim wheras Determinism has more explanatory depth and simplicity, and libertarianism and determinism are more conservative.
3.     Therefore, Libertarianism is the best explanation of  Human Behavior.

  1. I think that determinism explains explanatory depth much better, therefore saying that liberalism does isn't right. Determinism explains the human actions much better.

  2. The point that you were trying to prove was very vague. You don't go into much detail about Libertarianism is the better option. If you explain it more then you can clear up the grey areas.
